GMAT®

The Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) is the admissions exam used by graduate business and management programs around the world. The GMAT is a computer-adaptive exam that assesses analytical writing, problem-solving, and other skills vital to real-world business.

The GMAT is offered year-round at the MSU Testing Center.

GRE

The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is offered throughout the year at the MSU Testing Center. It’s wise to schedule your appointment as early as possible, since dates tend to fill up. This is especially true for test dates between August and December, which is our busiest time for the GRE. Typically, we have three months of GRE test dates open at a time.

The official GRE website contains an incredible amount of valuable information, from registration and testing accommodations to test prep and score reporting. The answer to just about any question you have about the exam can be found there.

Registration, scheduling, and payment are handled directly through GRE. You can register online, over the phone, or through the mail.

TOEFL

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures your ability to use and understand English at the university level and evaluates how well you combine your listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills to perform academic tasks.

Instructions for registering can be found on the official TOEFL website.

There is a lot of useful information on the TOEFL website, including suggestions on how to prepare for the exam.

A free six-week preparation course is available online through edX. To enroll in the course, visit the edX site.

MTTC

The Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) program is designed to ensure that certified teachers have the necessary professional readiness and content knowledge to teach in Michigan schools. They are the only exams that meet the testing requirement for teacher certification in Michigan.

The MSU Testing Center offers the computer-based MTTC, but does not currently offer the paper-based version. Regardless of which format of the exam you wish to take, you can schedule an appointment at the MTTC website.

MAT

The Miller Analogies Test, or MAT, serves as an alternative to the GRE for many graduate programs. Please be sure to check with the graduate program you’re applying to in order to verify that they accept the MAT as a part of their admissions process.

To schedule an appointment to take the MAT, please e-mail us at testctr@cc.msu.edu or call us at (517) 355-8385.

On test day, you’ll be required to pay an $80 fee to take the exam. You’ll receive a printed preliminary score report immediately after you finish your exam. An official score report will be sent to you about 10-15 days later. Pearson will also mail official score reports to institutions that you designate on the day of your exam. GED

We offer GED testing here at the MSU Testing office nearly every week throughout the year. All registration, payment, and scheduling must be done directly through GED Testing Service. You can also call them at 1-877-392-6433 or chat online.

The GED website has the answers to many questions, but if you have further questions please use one of the above methods to contact GED directly.

CLEP

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) allows students to earn college credit by achieving satisfactory scores on subject tests.

Your first step is to register and pay for your exam at the official CLEP website. After you’ve registered with CLEP, please e-mail us at testctr@cc.msu.edu or call 517-355-8385 to schedule an appointment. Starting times for Clep exams are 9:00am – 3:00pm and are usually available Monday thru Friday, there are some days that we cannot give Clep exams so please contact us to schedule and we will check our schedule.

Please note that you will have to pay two separate fees for each CLEP test you take. First, you’ll pay $90 directly to CLEP when you register on their website. Then, when you come in for your appointment, you’ll have to pay our $30 proctoring fee. All fees are waived for military personnel, spouses, and civilian employees.

You do not have to be an MSU student in order to take a CLEP exam at MSU.

DSST

The DSST program provides the opportunity to earn college credit in various subject areas. We administer the DSST exams throughout the year, on an as-needed basis. In order to schedule an appointment, please e-mail us at testctr@cc.msu.edu or call us at 517-355-8385.

On test day, you’ll be required to pay $80 to DSST with a credit card, and a separate $30 proctoring fee to MSU by cash, check, or credit.

We are a “Fully Funded DSST Center,” which means that eligible military members are able to test at our site for free.

Pearson VUE

The MSU Testing Center is a Pearson VUE authorized test center. We offer more Pearson exams than can possibly be listed here, so you’ll need to check the Pearson VUE website to find out if we are able to administer your exam in our office.

Registration, scheduling, and payment are all handled on the Pearson VUE website. If you have any questions, please contact Pearson directly.

SAT

The MSU Testing Center coordinates and administers the SAT exam on several dates each year. The SAT exam is never administered in the Testing Center itself. The location of your exam will be provided to you by SAT after you register. All registration, payment, and questions are handled directly through SAT.

Please consult the official SAT website to find all of the information that you need, including questions about test dates, test preparation, and photo ID requirements.

Be sure to review the information that you receive from SAT very thoroughly prior to your test date, as it contains extremely important information that will help ensure you are fully prepared on test day.

ACT

The MSU Testing Center coordinates and administers the ACT exam on several dates each year. The ACT exam is never administered in the Testing Center itself. The location of your exam will be provided to you by ACT after you register. All registration, payment, and questions are handled directly through ACT.

Please consult the official ACT website to find all of the information that you need, including questions about test dates, test preparation, and photo ID requirements.

Be sure to review the information that you receive from ACT very thoroughly prior to your test date, as it contains extremely important information that will help ensure you are fully prepared on test day.

LSAT

Currently, the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is only offered through a remote proctoring service provided directly by LSAC. Please note that we may be able to offer a quiet testing location for your LSAT on a first come, first served basis. There is a $20 room reservation fee for MSU students and a $30 room reservation fee for non-MSU students. Please email us a testctr@msu to find out if we are available for your LSAT test date. We are not open on Saturday or Sunday. You can check to see when the LSAT is being offered by scrolling through this list.

Register for the exam through the official LSAT website. The answers to most of your questions about the LSAT can also be found on their website. Additionally, they have a very helpful section on how to prepare for the test, as well as Frequently Asked Questions.

Please note that the LSAT is not administered in the actual MSU Testing Center. The exact location of your exam will be provided to you by LSAC.

Meazure Learning

Meazure Learning provides testing and training design, development, and delivery services to certification and licensure organizations, corporations, educational institutions, government agencies, and trade and professional associations. On their website, you can browse the list of exams that they offer, or you can even take a “sample test” to familiarize yourself with the Scantron testing process.

In order to schedule a Scantron exam, you must contact them directly or go to their website and click on the test you want to register for. Registration, scheduling, and payment are handled through Scantron, not through the MSU Testing Center.

ISO-Quality Testing

ISO-Quality Testing (IQT) is a company that offers exams for 60 different clients. We administer many different exams on behalf of IQT, including, but not limited to, the following:

– Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor

– Nuclear Medicine Exam

– NBCOT Orthopaedic Technologist Certification

If you aren’t sure if the exam you need to take is offered through IQT, you can check to see if what you’re looking for is on their client list. Registration, scheduling, and payment are handled directly through IQT, not the MSU Testing Office.
