The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) allows students to earn college credit by achieving satisfactory scores on subject tests.

We currently offer the CLEP on the 1st Wednesday, 3rd Thursday, and 4th Monday of each month.  If you are unable to attend on any of those dates, then exceptions can be made in some instances.

Your first step is to register and pay for your exam at the official CLEP website.  After you’ve registered with CLEP, please call us at 517-355-8385 to schedule an appointment to take your exam.

Please note that you will have to pay two separate fees for each CLEP test you take.  First, you’ll pay $85 directly to CLEP when you register on their website.  Then, when you come in for your appointment, you’ll have to pay our $30 proctoring fee.  All fees are waived for military personnel, spouses, and civilian employees.

You do not have to be an MSU student in order to take a CLEP exam at MSU.

CLEP score equivalencies for MSU can be found here.  If you have further questions about how CLEP scores transfer to MSU, please contact the Office of Admissions.
