BEST VALUE PARKING -- Visitor Lot adjacent to the Psychology Building across the street    

(Note--This visitor parking lot is not available to current MSU students.  Current MSU students must use student lots, metered on-campus parking, or off-campus parking.  See next two options also.)     Enter campus at Collingwood and Grand River. First building on right is Student Services Building. Small, drive-thru VISITOR lot adjacent to Psychology Bldg is first thing on your left.   Park in designated Visitor space; then come up to the Testing Office to purchase a parking permit, then go back to your car and affix it to your windshield. (Do not worry about getting a ticket during the few minutes it will take to purchase your permit.) On-Campus Parking Permits may be used both in "Visitor" spaces and in regular "Employee Permit" spaces, but they may NOT be used in leased spaces nor in "university vehicle only" spaces. (Such spaces are labelled "tow away zone" and they mean it!)

Permits cost:
$6.00 for all-day
$3.00 for 4 hours
$1.50 for 2 hours.
There are also some metered spots around the building, but meters are $.25 for 10 minutes.

2nd BEST PARKING VALUE OPTION

  • Bright ORANGE city parking ramp behind the stores along Grand River Ave off Division Street.

  • This is an ATTENDED lot. Rate is $1/hr. and is a 5 minute walk to our office.
 

3rd PARKING OPTION

  • MSU Campus Parking Ramp off Grand River (opposite ORANGE city ramp).
  • Convenient, but more expensive.
  • METERED parking costs 25 cents for 10 minutes ($1.50/hour), quarters only, 4 hour limit.
  • Parking fine for expired meter = $15.00.

 

DIRECTIONS FROM NORTH (e.g., from US 27, northern Michigan area):

Take US 27 south to 127. Exit at Grand River/Saginaw. Turn left (heading east). Follow Grand River (splits off from Saginaw, so keep in the right two lanes) into downtown East Lansing. Take the second entrance to campus off Grand River --Collingwood (turn right). See Parking Information above.

DIRECTIONS FROM EAST (e.g., from Westbound I-96, Detroit area):

Proceed west on I-96 to northbound US-127**;  follow US-127 north to East Lansing and take the Trowbridge Exit off 127. Travel on Trowbridge for a short distance until you reach Harrison Road; turn left onto Harrison (north). The MSU campus is now on your right. You will be traveling around the perimeter of the campus, keeping it on your right. Take Harrison to Michigan Avenue; turn right (heading east). Michigan Avenue soon merges into and becomes Grand River Avenue. Drive past the first entrance to campus (Abbott Road & Grand River). Take the second entrance to campus -- at the intersection of Collingwood and Grand River (turn right). See Parking Information above. 

**ALERT!  There is construction on this section of US-127, which will slow traffic.  An alternate route is to take Exit 110 (Mason/Okemos) off I-96.  Turn right onto Okemos Road. Travel approximately 3 miles to Grand River; turn left on Grand River (heading west).  Travel  approximately 2.5 miles to the Collingwood Entrance to campus.  See Parking Information above.

DIRECTIONS FROM NORTHEAST (e.g. Westbound I-69, Flint area):

Proceed southwest on I-69 to southbound US-127.  Take US-127 south to East Lansing.  Take the Trowbridge Exit off 127 . Travel on Trowbridge for a short distance until you reach Harrison Road; turn left onto Harrison (north). The MSU campus is now on your right. You will be traveling around the perimeter of the campus, keeping it on your right. Take Harrison to Michigan Avenue; turn right (heading east). Michigan Avenue soon merges into and becomes Grand River Avenue. Drive past the first entrance to campus (Abbott Road & Grand River). DIRECTIONS FROM SOUTH via I-69 (e.g., from Kalamazoo):

Proceed east on I-94 to northbound I-69.  Take I-69 north to Lansing.  Take I-496 east to the Trowbridge Road Exit. Travel on Trowbridge for a short distance until you reach Harrison Road; turn left onto Harrison (north). The MSU campus is now on your right. You will be traveling around the perimeter of the campus, keeping it on your right. Take Harrison to Michigan Avenue; turn right (heading east). Michigan Avenue soon merges into and becomes Grand River Avenue. Drive past the first entrance to campus (Abbott Road & Grand River). Take the second entrance to campus -- at the intersection of Collingwood and Grand River (turn right). See Parking Information above. 

DIRECTIONS FROM SOUTH via US-127 (e.g., from Jackson):

Proceed north on US-127 to East Lansing.  Take the Trowbridge Road exit**.  Travel on Trowbridge for a short distance until you reach Harrison Road; turn left onto Harrison (north). The MSU campus is now on your right. You will be traveling around the perimeter of the campus, keeping it on your right. Take Harrison to Michigan Avenue; turn right (heading east). Michigan Avenue soon merges into and becomes Grand River Avenue. Drive past the first entrance to campus (Abbott Road & Grand River). Take the second entrance to campus -- at the intersection of Collingwood and Grand River (turn right). See Parking Information above. 

**ALERT!  There is construction on US-127 between I-96 and the Trowbridge Road exit, which will slow traffic.  An alternate route is to take the Holt Road exit off US-127.  Turn right (east) onto Holt Road.  Travel about 1/2 mile, then turn left onto Hagadorn Road, heading north.  Travel approximately 6 miles on Hagadorn Road to Grand River; turn left on Grand River (heading west).  Travel  approximately 2.5 miles to the Collingwood Drive Entrance to campus.  See Parking Information above.

 DIRECTIONS FROM WEST (e.g., from eastbound I-96, Grand Rapids area):

Proceed east on I-96 to eastbound I-69; Proceed east on I-69 to southbound US-127.  Follow US-127 south.  Exit at Grand River/Saginaw. Turn left (heading east). Follow Grand River (splits off from Saginaw, so keep in the right two lanes) into downtown East Lansing. Take the second entrance to campus off Grand River --Collingwood Drive (turn right).
