-----CLEP, DSST, and AP:
CLEP (College Level Examination Program). The MSU Testing Office is an official CLEP Test Center. Testing is year round, but space is limited. Before you register for a CLEP test, do the following two things:
- Review the test rules and regulations in either the CLEP web site (link above) or the CLEP "Information for Candidates" Bulletin. As explained there, payment for CLEP is in 2 parts: 1) CLEP test fee (consult website for current fee) payable by credit card or check made out to "CLEP" and 2) MSU proctoring fee of $30.00 payable by cash or check made out to "Michigan State University."
- Consult the Admissions Office of the college or university from which you plan to obtain CLEP credits and get or print out written confirmation of that school's CLEP policy!
- For information on MSU's CLEP policy, consult our Admissions Office. (CLEP information is located under "Transfer Students," since CLEP credits are considered "transfer credits.")
Individual appointments are available M-F (see home page for office hours)
- Print and fill out the MSU CLEP registration form.
- Call 517-355-8278 to schedule your appointment.
- Bring your completed registration form with you* along with 2 forms of positive identification as described in the official CLEP website, and the required 2 separate payments for each test.
- Directions, maps, and parking information on our home page.
* If you are part of a special group or class being scheduled for a “group administration”, your registration form and checks must be received by the Testing Office at least 2 business days prior to the scheduled session. Arrangements will usually have been made by your group leader or instructor.
DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Tests) The MSU Testing Office is an official test site for the DSST.
Payment for the DSST is in 2 parts: 1) DSST test fee (consult website for current fee) payable by credit card, certified check, or U.S. money order made out to The DSST Program--no cash or personal checks-- and 2) MSU proctoring fee of $30.00 payable by cash or check made out to Michigan State University. After checking the DSST website, call the MSU Testing Office for more information. 517-355-8278.
Before registering for a DSST exam, follow the same two guidelines listed above for CLEP. Consult the DSST website or Information Bulletin for testing information, and confirm the policy at the school from which you hope to get credit.
Advanced Placement Test ("A.P. Tests") Consult your high school. These tests are taken prior to your freshman year in college. (If you have already taken the tests and have questions about score processing at MSU, consult the Admissions Office. AP information is located under "Transfer Students," since AP credits are considered "transfer credits.")
